4.1. Last month of school busy celebrating Black History Month, Diversity and Respect Week, Multicultural Week. Student Leadership started
up again. Drumming exhibition and Metis jigging went off really well.
4.2. Changed format of newsletter to online app (Sway).
4.3. Non-instructional time added to provide extra student support at end of school day. No new curriculum introduced. Great collaboration.
4.4. Starting program after Spring Break to assist Grade 3, 4, 5 students who struggle with reading. Launching “Active Start”- open gym
in the morning for students who need extra physical activity to ease into academic day.
4.5. Grade 7 Grad planning in the works. Goal is to make it more kid friendly this year. Once there is more direction from district, Grade 7
elementary schools will meet and collaborate.
4.6. Finalized Grade 7 field trip to Widgeon Creek to go paddling and hiking at Pitt Lake.
4.7. Kindergarten registration full. Really nice to see.
4.8. Tim Stephenson doing walk through of WGSS tomorrow to familiarize Grade 7’s with high school.
5. Executive Reports:
5.1. President, Kirsten Krantz:
5.1.1. Coloring contest fantastic. Two winners (one primary, one secondary). Format worked well with taking photo and sending it in.
5.1.2. PAC website updated. Weebly site. Some limitations. Take a tour and let Kirsten know what you think. Added some new content.
5.1.3. Another run of Gator Gear. Trickle of orders coming in. Probably start up again in April. Will confirm at later date.
5.2. Vice-President, Heather Kreighton:
5.2.1. Supporting Kristen in putting together social media side. Starting to see traction there.
5.3. Treasurer, Paula Dykshoorn:
5.3.1. Shared financials. Profit on hot lunch is not correct due to credits from previous term. Everything else current as of yesterday.
5.3.2. Teachers slowly starting to plan field trips with restrictions loosening.
5.3.3. School received walkie-talkies.
5.3.4. Will cover spring bulbs under fundraising.
5.4. Secretary, Katrina McClendon:
5.4.1. Three more months to look for new Secretary.
5.5. Fundraising, Vacant (Kirsten reporting):
5.5.1. Tara and Trena have resigned. Donated countless exhaustive hours and appreciate all their time. Looking for new people in this role.
5.5.2. Open fundraiser is spring bulbs. Some orders in system. Will post reminders again tomorrow and Friday (closes on Friday).
5.6. Hot Lunch Coordinator, Sarah Gough:
5.6.1. Hot lunch opens for term on Wednesday. Volunteer sheet available same day. Melody working with classroom parents. Set to go.
5.6.2. Easter treats - cookies and chocolate Easter eggs with treats inside. Ordering open first day back from Spring Break.
Available for pick-up Thursday before Good Friday.

6.1.1.1. Rapid tests making their way into schools.
6.1.1.2. Reviewing health orders. Return to what we were doing
prior to Christmas.
6.1.1.3. Huge supply of approved 3pl masks in SD 35.
6.1.1.4. SD 35 asked to have procedure in place to monitor absenteeism and adapt as needed.
6.1.1.5. All schools have plans and procedures in place (i.e., fire, earthquake, hold and secure) that are practiced and rehearsed regularly.
6.1.1.6. All schools have grab and go bag. School board getting antenna to boost walkie-talkie signals as some schools had issues.
6.1.2. DPAC approved motion to spend $10,000 to purchase 3 tents as part of a district wide shared asset purchase. Tents will be stored at local high schools. Nathan: Coast Capital has rented tents in past. Melody will ask Walnut Grove branch if they would
supply us a tent.

7.1. Family Photo Fundraiser still on table. Amanda will research and report back.
7.2. Craft Fair - Nathan proposed idea of doing Craft Fair and Fun Fair on same date. Amanda will investigate and follow up next month.
7.3. Fun Fair - Kirsten starting to lay groundwork: games and fields reserved, portable
washrooms and delineators donated, discussing safest food options.

8.1. Kindergarten Entry Day mid-May. PAC will have table set up to meet and greet
new parents.
8.2. Discussed creating Traffic Committee. Kirsten has received a lot of negative
feedback from parents on parking lot safety. Bylaw has been coming by periodically.
Nathan and Courtney will increase presence outside and ask our School Liaison,
Heather McClaren, to assist. Hold off on PAC involvement for now.
8.3. Recruitment and Succession Planning for Executive - trying to encourage parents
on social media and send out reminders. One of hardest years on PAC to rebuild community with stifled Covid restrictions. Hope to see new faces! Heather will organize PAC booth at Fun Fair/Craft Fair.
9. Open Forum/Parents Q&A –
9.1. Q: Will March 14th loosening of restrictions affect hot lunch?
A: It sounds likely but no confirmation yet.
9.2. Q: How do we feel about PAC and Courtney and Nathan putting baskets in for Fun Fair?
A: Great suggestion.
9.3. Q: Are field trips happening again?
A: Permitted to go on field trips now, as long as the criteria meets health guidelines. Up to teachers. Slowly easing back in.
9.4. Q: Are buses difficult to get right now?
A: Yes, everyone trying to book a year’s worth of field trips in three months. Bonnie Henry announcement on March 14th and then Minster
of Education meets and decides how their decision affects schools.
9.5. Q: Grade 7 Grad dates?
A: June 23rd Grade 7 Grad. June 24th WGSS Walk.
9.6. Q: Which supplier do we use for Gator Gear?
A: True North Originals.
9.7. Q: District bus costs?
A: Nick will check with DPAC and follow up.
9.8. Q: Why don’t Grade 7’s go on camping trip anymore?
A: Ended the year Nathan arrived at AHE. 35-37% of kids didn’t go. Due to cost
and level of commitment involved, camp was replaced with four separate
daytime activities throughout year. Participation increased to 95%.
